This winter has been very warm in our neck of the woods. I am not sure if it’s the weather to blame or something else, but this year I am struggling to get into Christmas spirit. Usually I have a clear idea of what I want the Christmas decor to be for that year, but I guess this year there have been many other things occupying my mind.
We finally put our Christmas tree up. Same as last year, it’s white and it’s a fake. I considered getting a real tree this year, but thinking about the pick up, the mess, and the killing of a real tree, I fought myself and opted to be more environmentally conscious. I know, you can argue that those trees are killed anyways, but I don’t want to add to the demand. In the end, I am much happier with my little fake white tree! Oh and for decor this year we went very simple with soft toys and finger puppets from Ikea!
And my favorite part is probably the reindeer I got on sale at Michaels. I just love the way he sparkles. He definitely brings me joy.
The console table is looking pretty sad. But I did try my hand at the chalkboard art (courtesy of pinterest). I know it’s not exactly perfect, but hey, I gave it a shot and I kind of like it. 🙂 The little tree is missing some sparkle, so that still needs to be figured out.
Outdoor got nothing but a set of decorative twigs. I wanted to buy a new doormat and a few other things to decorate the front space, but never got around to it and with Christmas being just around the corner, I am not sure that I want to make that investment now.
What have you done to decorate or undecorated this year? Do you go for the real tree or fake? If you get a fake one, do you use any scent enhancers to give it a real tree aroma?
Do you change your decor every year or just add to it? What is your favorite Christmas memory? Or maybe you celebrate another winter holiday, what is it? How is it similar or different to Christmas?
