At this point we had visited 4 Ivies- Yale, Harvard, Brown, and Columbia, so it was only natural to make a pit stop at Princeton during our last trip to the Northeast to make it 5 Ivies. Princeton is only an hour away from Newark airport, so it was super convenient.
Also (and I completely forgot about this while we were there) one of my favorite movies, A Beautiful Mind was filmed at Princeton. And not any less of a significance, one of my ex-coworkers graduated from Princeton, so I had to make her proud. 🙂
It finally warmed up after a three-day cold front and granted it was a Sunday, lots of students and professors alike came out to the benches and chairs located all over the green lawns.
There were also a TON of tour groups!
Since the trees have not gotten their full foliage back, it looks a bit bleak on the photos above, but there were plenty of blooms to gaze at and smell!
I expected the architecture at Princeton to be mostly Gothic, but it actually has a mix of Gothic, Renaissance, Tudor, and Greek. A strange mix, but it works!
I think there were actual classrooms in those buildings. Not sure.
The day before came to Princeton, we were at a Yale college store, where I saw a pair of salmon colored shorts and a short sleeve button up with marine print. I said, “Wow, can it get any preppier? Just missing loafers.” Well, as we walking through Princeton, I saw two guys (pretty sure they were not gay either, in case you’re wondering) wearing that exact outfit and almost perfectly matching. 😂 It is now my impression of Princeton – super preppy!
I bet this alley is super pretty once the foliage is back!
It was a quick 2-hour visit to the campus, but was totally worth it! Part of the campus felt like we were in Hogwarts or Narnia, and part felt like we were in Athens.
